Pip — Privacy Policy

The Meal Prep Buddy

Effective date: June 21, 2026

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Pip (“Pip,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a meal-planning and shopping-list app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Pip you agree to this policy.

Who we are

Pip is developed by Dillan Smith. For any privacy question or request, contact dillan.csmith@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address and name. Authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk. We use this to sign you in, sync your data across devices, and contact you about your account.

Your content

We store the content you create in the app so it can sync and be shared with the families you join: recipes, ingredients, shopping lists, tags, and family/group membership. This data is stored on our servers and tied to your account.

Recipe parsing & AI features

When you import a recipe from a web link or text, or use AI features (nutrition estimates, ingredient tagging, or substitutions), the relevant recipe URL or text is sent to our AI processing provider (OpenAI) to extract and structure the recipe. This content is processed to return a result to you and is not used to train models. We do not send your account identity to the AI provider with this content beyond what is needed to perform the request.

Diagnostics & crash data

To keep the app stable we use Sentry to collect crash reports and diagnostic information (e.g. device type, OS version, error details). This data helps us find and fix bugs.

Subscriptions (Pip Pro)

If and when you purchase a Pip Pro subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We (and our subscription-management provider, RevenueCat) receive your subscription status and a purchase identifier so we can unlock paid features and manage renewals. We do not see your full payment information.

How we use your information

Who we share data with

We share data only with service providers that help us run Pip, and only as needed:

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and content from our systems, as described below.

Your rights & choices

Delete your account

You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete Account. This removes your recipes, shopping lists, and family membership data, and deletes your authentication record. Deletion is permanent and completed within 30 days. If you have an active subscription, cancel it in your device’s subscription settings first, as Apple manages billing.

Access & correction

You can view and edit your content directly in the app. For any other request regarding your data, contact us at dillan.csmith@gmail.com.

Children’s privacy

Pip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using Pip you consent to this processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by notifying you in the app.
